DedicationA musician unappreciated is a tree withered before it falls. An existence suffered but unnoticed, may not have been realized by many, and still may not, even in his death. For the worse mortality for any virtuoso is to be able to feel his music and not execute it. A prisoner of his own mind, he lived a silent death: the fate of Dudley Moore. A poor soul who lived the great ups and downs of life; at his peak, an actor and comedian, who gave great laughter and harmony to many who heeded his very presence. It was a career which shadowed his former glory as a pianist. At his lowest, a debilitated senior behind the bars of a home with thoughts of grandeur and life at it's best -without the comfort of his instrument to lighten his sorrow. His fingers, crippled by a progressive brain disease, could no longer manipulate the beautiful ivory keys of a piano. I'd imagine it'd be like the death of a spouse. Here, we find every up in life has a mirror image. If we live many good moments in heart, our history becomes a cherished treasure that'll carry us through eternity. When I first saw the picture on his headstone, I saw utter sadness: a solitary man on a lonely beach trapped by the memory of his grand piano. When brought to my attention by a good friend, "perhaps he wanted to be remembered this way" I found new meaning: A man in a tuxedo, at his best accompanied by his first voice- an extraordinary performer, a man with vision to reach beyond his means and succeed; an empty chair, filled by memory. It is with this, I'd like to dedicate this website to Dudley Moore who inspired me to be me, and second- those minstrels who live with music in their hearts, silent or voiced, who know that the spirit of humanity is to live through sorrow with the joy of knowing you've done your best to make life work.
